I have to admit, it’s been many years for me since summer signaled the end of the school year. But I still remember the anticipation and a touch of sorrow to see the year end. I went to school about 45 minutes from where I lived, and many of my friends lived just as far in the opposite direction, so it was likely that I wouldn’t see them until the next fall.
I recall how the excitement of summer break quickly turned to boredom as it seemed I had nothing to do on those long endless days… How I wish I had more of those nothing-to-do days now! But I always enjoyed family vacations and time spent swimming in our pool and going to my brother’s summer league baseball games.
As an adult, summer still means things to look forward to. Romance Writer’s of America’s national conference is always in the summer. It’s in San Antonio this year. I’ve never been there, and I’m looking forward to it.
What about you? What are you looking forward to this summer? Leave a comment, and I’ll draw a winner of a $10 gift card.
