CONGRATULATIONS TO Felicia Ciaudelli – you won the blog giveaway.  Please contact me at my website e-mail and give me your address so I can mail the book to you.

Sorry for the delay in choosing the winner, but I have been at another conference and Sunday was my travel day.  Got to meet Tammy Y. on Saturday in Charlotte, NC – what a treat to meet readers.

As many of you may or may not know, the Romance Writers of America held their annual conference in San Antonio, Texas this past July. Writers from all over the country, as well as from countries around the globe, gathered to share knowledge, learn new information, promo books, and attend parties! (And so much more).

One of the biggest treats of all for me was getting to meet so many Special Edition authors at the Harlequin Series Meet and Greet, Thursday afternoon. I have met many of them before, but this was my first time meeting the majority of these authors. One of my favorite moments was getting a warm hug from Cindy Kirk. What a great lady!

I copied this fabulous picture from Harlequin editor, Susan Littman’s Facebook page to share our group picture. Thank you, Susan!

Special Edition Authors at RWA

From left to right, front row: Brand spanking new to the line author, Amy Woods , Michelle Major, Judy Duarte, Back row from left: Me, Lynne Marshall, Amanda Berry, Caro Carson, Stacy Connelly, Christyne Butler, Stella Bagwell, Cindy Kirk, and Nancy Robards Thompson.

I had a ball bouncing from one Special Edition author to the next at the Wednesday night Literacy signing, where over 50K was raised for literacy. I got books signed by many of my favorite authors and firends to the tune of over a hundred dollars! But it was for a good cause, right? Now I just have to find time to read them all. I also got to participate in the Friday morning Harlequin author signing for the Medical Romance line that I also write for, and Nancy and Caro were there representing SE. Here’s a picture of me with Caro at the signing.

The Harlequin party is always the big event of the conference for us authors, and I’m happy to report I got to group-dance for a bit with Christyne, Caro, Michelle Major, and Stacy Connely, who looked amazing in her full length gown. A little birdie told me it was Stacy’s and Cindy Kirk’s birthday!

The biggest moment that night for me personally was seeing my Special Edition – A Doctor for Keeps –on the huge media screen at the party as it scrolled through every line’s book covers for July. Lucky me. You may have to squint to see me, but can you tell I’m feeling proud?

A Doctor for Keeps and Lynne

Have you met anyone lately that you’ve been looking forward to?  Or have you had a proud moment you’d like to share?

I’ll give a UK copy of A Doctor for Keeps – which is a 2-in-1 book with romance author Alison Roberts, to one commenter.

 Thanks for reading and commenting!

Lynne

Can’t say that I’ve met someone (for the first time) that I’ve been wanting to meet. I meet old friends often that I’ve wanted to see, though!
As for proud moments, I’ve been blessed to have several, mostly on a daily basis. I think of them like Oprah’s “grateful” things: my husband visits his Mom (with Alzheimer’s) half an hour away on every one of his days off (unless we can’t reschedule those mornings); my daughter does well at balancing her life’s priorities, including visits/texts/phone calls with her parents, playing numerous sports, and continually upgrading her employment qualifications by taking workshops, all while doing her wedding preparations; my son automatically helps around the house when something needs to be done; and the list goes on and on.

    • HI Laney4 – you definitely have a family to be proud of, and I think you’re on the right track. We all need to take time to count our blessings and give thanks.

      :)

    not really to both questions

HI Lynne, that must have been a fantastic time! I didn’t make it to San Antonio, sob, but in the last two RWA’s before that, I met a lot of the writers from my group blog. Good times~

    • We missed you, Tanya! It’s always hit and miss with who will be there, so it’s all the sweeter when a good-sized group of authors from the line you write for show up. :)

  4. Lynne! Missed RWA this year. Looks like it was fabulous. Thanks for sharing. <3

  5. Felicia M Ciaudelli says:

What great experiences! There are many people I would love to meet – my favorite authors are at the top of my list – as well as friends I made from when I started penpalling way back in the day!

  6. Dyan says:

What a great party! Some of my favorites are in that photo! It looks like a fun time was had by all! I haven’t met anyone recently, but I would love to attend RWA in the future! Congrats on making the big screen! :)

    • Dyan – I hope you’ll be able to attend an RWA conference in the future. It is just about impossible to explain.

imagine 2K writers (mostly women) talking in the lobby of a hotel! LOL

  7. Mary Lawson says:

While at the SCBWI Florida regional conference,I met author Deborah Wiles. My former 5th graders loved reading her books. I also have enjoyed becoming FB friends of several of my favorite Harequin authors and definitely reading heir books. They are all inspirations.

    • Hi Mary –
Facebook really has put (well the Internet in general, but places like FB in particular) a new spin on getting to know people.

What a thrill to meet the author of books your 5 graders once loved. Great moment, and thanks for sharing.

Also – thank you for reading Harlequin authors.

  8. Amy Wright says:

I was able to see my sister that I haven’t seen in almost two years. She was only here for 2 days but the time I got to spend with her was wonderful. I’m going to try to plan a trip to see her early next year. I hope nothing interferes with the plan.

    • Amy, I’m really happy to hear you got to spend time with your sister. It is really hard keeping in touch when everyone is spread out around the country, and globe.

Be sure to make those plans with her!

  9. Tammy Y says:

I live in Charlotte, so I hope to meet Carly Phillips at the Authors After Dark event this Saturday. My other authors will be there too.

  10. Lynne – It was great to meet you in San Antonio!! Love your pics.

  11. Hi Lynne – Loved seeing the pictures of you and the gals in S. A. It’s fun to meet the ladies you see mostly only online!

    • Hi Charlene!
I agree, when we meet folks we’ve met online, it gives us a hands up for feeling like we know each other already. They are all great ladies with fun personalities. It was really fun.

  12. Marcy Shuler says:

Hi Lynne. How great to see your book cover on the big screen. I’m tickled to see the pic, so I can only imagine how thrilled you were. :)

But I haven’t met anyone recently and I can’t think of any excessively proud moment.

    • Hi Marcy – I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one who got a kick out of that Harlequin Party moment. :)

Now, I submit to you that you have plenty to be proud of and are just too humble to admit it!

P.S. I would love to meet you. :)
